Mirafiori to Build Future Alfa Romeo & Jeep Vehicles

Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne has presented trade unions in Turin with a plan to re-launch Mirafiori as a major manufacturing hub, boosting its output to between 250,000 and 280,000 units per year. Under the new plan, Chrysler and Fiat will establish a new joint venture company which will produce larger segment passenger cars and SUVs for the Alfa Romeo and Jeep brands.

The Fiat CEO expressed his intention to initiate the project immediately to ensure that new Alfa Romeo and Jeep models, scheduled for the third and fourth quarters of 2012, will be launched on time. Models produced by the new company at Mirafiori will also be exported outside the European Union with more than half destined for international markets, particularly North America.
